In A Northern Requiem, some of the finest artists in Northern Sweden come together to express the wide range of emotions elicited in the encounter with death: bottomless despair and storming rage, but also wonder and hope.
Fredrik Sixten’s music – a combination of modernism, tradition and occasionally jazz-like harmony – meets both the latin text of the Requiem Mass and Swedish texts by Bengt Pohjanen, who also participates reciting texts in a new translation to Meänkieli.
This scenic production directed by Catarina Gnosspelius is a world premiere, featuring Erik Westberg’s Vocal Ensemble, Lars Nilsson on organ, soloists Ola Eliasson and Carina Henriksson and dancer Linn Lindström.
